Our beloved History teacher, Kathy Haggerman, passed from a battle with cancer a year ago. She was a compassionate woman who loved teaching and learning, especially with LGBTQ+ students. She built our GSA (Gender, Sexuality Alliance) from the ground up and began new traditions like a schoolwide campaign celebrating National AIDS Awareness Week. She brought visibility and legitimacy to the Hami LGBTQ+ community on campus. Her wish was for Hamilton High School to carry on supporting our LGBTQ+ student population in every way possible. One of the ways to honor Kathy's legacy was to create a scholarship fund in her name where each year we would help LGBTQ+ seniors with college expenses. Students will submit essays describing their need to our Hamilton Alumni Association who will match the donations made and decide on the recipients. On behalf of Kathy and our LGBTQ+ Hami Community, we thank you for your contribution.
